How to Know You Are Growing as a Person

Today we will be discussing how to know you’ve grown into a better person. These signs that we’ll be discussing today will also show that you’ve healed in certain areas of your life. There’s always this battle between who you used to be and this new person you see yourself becoming.

So many of us may take the situations we’re presented as punishments from God, but what if He was calling forth a better version of ourselves by allowing a situation to happen?

What if what happened to you was just a way to get you to change? Change is measured by consistency so if you’ve consistently been doing the things we’re going to talk about later on in this post, then it’s guaranteed that you’ve changed for the better.

God has put us in situations that has called forth the woman we are today. She didn’t just magically appear (and by “she” I mean our present self) and we all know we’re not done becoming who we want to be. So with that being said we should also expect even more situations to come forth that will mold us into the woman of our dreams but I digress.

Back to the script.

What if I told you that it all came down to those situations that made you uncomfortable that made you become the person you are today? In fact, that is what I’m telling you, ladies. Those situations that challenged you were the situations that brought forth the person you are today.

Enough of my rambling, here are the top ways to know you are growing as a person.

1. You Respond Instead of React

The old you would’ve been like, “fight them, smoke that, drink that, go do this because it’s fun, don’t worry about the consequences, you’ve always done this why stop now” etc. If you were very confrontational, reacting instead of responding was your go-to after being exposed to a situation you didn’t like. This consisted of letting your emotions control your actions, letting anxiety rule your life, or not thinking of the consequences of what you said or did next. Now however, you respond. You don’t flash, yell, overreact etc. You take a moment to process your feelings, you take time to figure out how to address the situation and you move accordingly.

2. You No Longer Tolerate Toxic Behaviors in Yourself or Others

When you start to to want better for yourself, you’re growing. When you start to think of ways to become a better friend, daughter, sister, mom, etc you are growing as a person. Eating better, exercising more, healing past trauma, communicating better, being more self aware, and breaking toxic behaviors are all a part of growing. You’ve also noticed that you stopped tolerating those toxic behaviors from others and expect to get treated the way you treat yourself or better.

3. You Started

In the past you may have said you’ll start exercising, you’ll start that business, you’ll start dieting, you’ll go back to school, you’ll move on someday. In the past anything you’ve ever said you wanted to do you never did. However, you know you’ve changed when you at least started the process of doing what you said you wanted to do. Bonus points if you’ve stayed consistent with it.

The Bible states, “In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead”. James 2:17

It’s dead if you don’t start. So it’s a huge accomplishment if you’ve started.

4. You Embrace the Uncomfortable

I’m sure there were situations where you thought there was absolutely no way you could overcome it. I’m sure there were situations that brought you so much anxiety, worry, and a feeling of impending doom, right? Now though, those situations don’t seem as big as they used to. They don’t scare you the way they use to, you don’t react the way you used to. You actually welcome change and you’re adapting to these new situations with a more optimistic perspective.

At this point you expect to be put in situations that will challenge you to strengthen your self control, to learn how to save money better, to pick better friends, to make better decisions, or anything else you may struggle with right now. Those previous situations have taught you how to be more confident, more healthy, more disciplined, and more cautious of who you let in your space.

5. You Trust Yourself More

You’re way more sure of yourself. There’s probably been a point in life where you did not know who to trust, what decisions were best for you, what your purpose in life was etc but now you have a better understanding of who you are and what you want. You trust your thoughts more, you trust your decisions more, you trust where God will lead you and you know it’s always going to be better than where you were before.

Ladies, you’re doing an outstanding job if any of these apply to you.

You now recognize the opportunity for growth in every situation you’re presented whether good or bad too.

When we’re put in those situations we need to remember we always have two options: stay the same or grow. Continue being who you were or start strengthening who you see yourself as and if you were able to relate to any of those signs of change then newsflash, you’ve definitely grown as a person.

I hope you ladies enjoyed. God loves you and I love you <3
